CoochBehar(WB), June 17 : Three persons, including a Zilla Parishad member, were injured when activists of Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) clashed at a village in Cooch Behar district today, police sources said.
Local CPI-M leader Dwijen Barman alleged a gang of armed Trinamool supporters attacked a house at Gherkuthi village at around 11 am and assaulted two CPI-M supporters Shahidul Mian and Naresh Roy and Zilla Parishad member Parameswar Roy who were in that house at that time.
Trinamool Congress leader Khokan Mian claimed a number of CPI(M) men joined Trinamool recently and the number was increasing day by day. Following this development, CPI(M) activists had unleashed a reign of terror in the area, he alleged.
The Trinamool Congress leader denied the CPI(M) allegation that their men were involved with the attack on CPI(M) activists.
A large police contingent went to the area to control the situation, Superintendent of Police D P Singh said adding the situation in now under control. Ze
